About Dr. TANIA Slaviero
Dr. Tania Slaviero is a Clinical Psychologist and works in the perinatal period, providing support for family planning, pregnancy, parenting and loss. She is currently in private practice and assists clients with a wide range of presentations including antenatal and postnatal depression and anxiety, adjustment disorder, attachment difficulties, birth trauma, grief and loss, family of origin issues, and parenting challenges.
Dr. Tania Slaviero worked as a Primary School Teacher for ten years before embarking on a career in psychology. Her interest lies in working collaboratively with families to improve the mental health and well-being of parents and their children.
Dr. Tania Slaviero has worked at Mitcham Private Hospital Perinatal Mental Health Unit providing care for women with mental health conditions that develop or exacerbate during pregnancy or after birth. She has also assisted mothers experiencing difficulties with their newborns and toddlers in the residential unit at the Mercy Health O'Connell Family Centre. Dr. Tania Slaviero has worked at the Royal Children's Hospital as the Resilient Families Program Manager. She wrote the Resilient Families Student Curriculum implemented in schools and facilitated parent education. During her time at the Kool Kids, Positive Parents Program at Eastern Health, she provided support for children with behavioural and emotional difficulties and their parents.
Dr. Tania Slaviero completed her Honours Thesis on the effect of parental warmth, punishment and control on children's global self-esteem. Her Doctoral Thesis investigated the impact of guided meditation on children’s behaviour, mental health and well-being.
Dr. Tania Slaviero believes in taking a holistic approach to health care that considers all members of the family unit. She draws from a wide range of psychological approaches and tailors her care to suit the specific needs of her clients.
